Mumaw - Boyd Sometime between 1903 to 1906

2009 Mumaw Reunion Information

What: the 39th Mumaw Reunion

When: October 9-11, 2009

Where: KBarS Lodge, Keystone, South Dakota

Now that a date has been set, plans are underway for the 2009 Mumaw Family Reunion. A block of 10 rooms has been set aside for Friday and Saturday nights at the KBarS Lodge just outside of Keystone. We picked this lodge because of its great secluded setting within sight of Mt. Rushmore. The rooms set aside for us all have balconies that have a view of George Washington's profile. I encourage you to take a look at the lodge's website, http://www.kbarslodge.com/ to get an idea of the accommodations and setting.

Reservations:
You will need to make your own reservations by calling KBarS Lodge, Toll Free at 1-866-522-7724 or (605) 666-4545. The available rooms have 2 Queen beds (and two are handicap accessible). The room rate is $79.99 plus tax, or $86.39, which includes a deluxe continental breakfast. If you want to extend your stay after Saturday night, the same rate is available. FYI, one of the reasons we selected the date in early October is the rates are much lower than during the tourist season, IE ranging from $100 to $150.

When you call, mention that you are with the Mumaw Reunion group to get the special rate. Please call me if you have any problems with reservations.

Special note for the Nebraska relatives: You will be glad to know that Cindy checked and the rooms are "snake free."

Planned Activities:
At this time, we have arranged for a group dinner Buffet on Saturday night with a cash bar The cost is $17 per person plus tax and tip. And true to the tradition established by Martin, a hosted Saturday afternoon ice cream social is planned for Memorial Team Ice Cream at Mt Rushmore. We welcome suggestions for other activities that we might want to do as a group.

In addition to Mt. Rushmore, there are many wonderful sights in the area (Custer State Park and its buffalo, Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Historic Deadwood (with its gambling), Spearfish Canyon, the Badlands, Devil's Tower in Wyoming) to visit nearby. The KBarS website has links to many of them. You should be aware that some of the tourist sites may be closed for the season. As we get closer to October, I will send out an update with current information and suggestions.

We are looking forward to another memorable family reunion. Aunt Verta promises a good time will be had by all.
